Stress relief through karate

As I move through the routines of stretches, counts, punches and kicks, my mind begins unwinding.  Relief and distraction from the constant gazing at my cell phone checking for the next email or text heading my way.

Could it be that the mechanical process of choreographed body movement, the cadence,  fires different neurotransmitters which interface with relatively unvisited neuron receptors?   For a moment, relief from the daily concerns.  I like to think I hand all of my concerns over to God, but this seems to facilitate the level of peace in my life.  It’s like taking a long walk with friends…..
