But I don’t think it matters.
I went to the dojo annual Karate classic tournament on Saturday, November 4, 2017 to check out the scene. Some of my findings:
- I don’t have the flava for sparring (kumite). Every time I fight I get hurt.
- I might have the flava for kata competition. (Kata are choreographed fighting/self-defense moves.) We will see. I think it will be a while. I know I have hurt my knees in the past over-practicing for kata competition. I am sure my form is not good. Like I think I don’t pivot on the balls of my feet as I turn and this stresses my knees.
- I can participate in regular workouts and meet the exercise goals that I have whether I compete or not. The group workout at the dojo is dynamic!
