Non-poisonous snake identified

Serendipitous snake discovery, Hurricane (Harvey) aftermath video

I have been tracking some snakes in a ditch near my house and today confirmed the snake(s) as non-poisonous by viewing the split scales behind the vent of the snake.  I have been noticing round pupils (which indicate U.S.A. nonpoisonous) for a while.  Relatively sure that I am tracking Nerodia rhombifer, a diamondback watersnake…….
