DeSoto County tree giveaway: planting at NWCC-DeSoto, 2019

Northwest Mississippi Community College-DeSoto students planted trees on the campus obtained from the local Arbor day tree giveaway!  Special thanks to student Melissa V. for obtaining the trees.

Cypress trees were planted along the shallow bank of the lake behind the school.  Pines, oaks and dogwoods were also planted in the meadow area along the north border of the DeSoto campus.  Recent rains appear to provide a habitable start for the new trees!  Some day, we might have a walking path in the area and these trees will augment the beautiful view at the Northwest-DeSoto campus.

  1. We planted multiple types of trees and were followed by nagging bugs. The ground wasn’t dry, so I hope all the trees root pretty well and live.
