  1. I am not completely sold on alkalizing water, but I have read that Kelly Ripa credits her youthful skin and body to an alkalized diet. I think she looks great! Maybe be worth the time and effort.

  2. I wouldn’t necessarily call alkalizing the water “trouble” if it is somehow beneficial to us. Being that alkaline water has a higher pH level than just plain drinking water, it can help hydration, weight loss, and the skin. Of course you can’t go wrong with normal drinking water though.

  3. After doing my own research on the subject I do think if nothing else it is worth a try. There are several claims out there about the consumption of alkaline water. These claims state that alkaline water offers, better hydration, will increase of metabolism, aids weight loss, decrease of hypertension, more energy, and can help fight metabolic acidosis. There are suggested rules that come along with alkaline water that I found very odd. There are specific times it is better to consume alkaline water, such as when you first wake up for the day. It would take some effort and mindfulness to give it a try but if you’re struggling with metabolic acidosis, constant gastrointestinal issues, or inability to lose weight it may be worth a shot.

  4. My experience with alkaline water is my friends mother sold these 5,000 machines called “kangen filtration” or something like that. They gave it to their horses and farm animals and they always had the healthiest. as well as their house pets ( cat regrew his testees” Also she was not able to have any more children after having 5 of them and her uterine wall being damaged, a year after the water out pops another child. Supposedly this water is helpful to cancer patients because cancer cant survive in an Alkaline environment. When i was drinking it everyday I no doubt felt better, but then again it might be because i was drinking alot of water continously.

  5. I had to do some research, but after reading I don’t think alkalizing water is completely necessary. Although it seems to have great benefits at first like calcium, potassium, etc.. it can potentially mess up you pH balance and overall it doesn’t seem to be completely necessary.

  6. Disclaimer, my opinion by experience, but little study on the subject.
I believe natural alkaline water as found in wells and natural springs is good for the body. Some Spring towns even became known as healing water destinations. In my own experience, the ability to ingest spring water in extreme heat without nausea is impressive. I don’t believe just alkalinizing water would be a benefit, as that alone is not what is benefitting our bodies.

  7. I am not very familiar with alkaline water but I have been seeing that is better for you. It is supposed to help with improving your PH balance levels and be overall healthier for you. I have not heard anything negative about drinking it yet but I’m sure that drinking too much of it can have some sort of side effects to your body.

  8. I am not very familiar on the benefits of alkaline water, but I do know many people that are prone to having reflux and it has actually been said that the alkaline water (since its acidity is less) can help the people that suffer from it. I think that the benefits from alkaline water are individual based, as there are no real proven benefits compared to regular tap water.

  9. I don’t think that alkalizing our water sources would be much of a help to us at all. Taking an element that was already put on this earth for our benefit and adding potentially dangerous side effects to it does not seem to be a wise choice when we could be dedicating our time and money to other more emergent studies.

  10. I would personally not take it as far as to Alkalize water, when we don’t have a major issue with our water currently. Drinking Alkalized water in large amounts can mess with the body’s normal pH. It can also cause a condition called metabolic alkalosis, which causes confusion, nausea, vomiting, etc. in most cases. Although it can have its benefits, it can easily go wrong. It is better to be safe than sorry.

  11. I think tap water is fine to use. I have heard good things about alkaline water, but I have also heard about the cons and side effects. Personally, I would stick to tap water because the water in the area is good.

  12. Natural alkaline water is generally considered safe, because it contains natural minerals. Whereas cautious should be taken with the use of artificial alkaline water. I do feel it’s worth the trouble if it can be proven to aid in anti-aging and colon-cleansing properties,
    immune system support,
hydration, skin health, and other detoxifying properties.
    weight loss and
    cancer resistance.

  13. Alkaline water has its benefits and drawbacks according to the research I have done. It is better for some more so than others. It can cause issues with health problems you may have, yet it could help prevent some other health issues that could occur in the future. But I’d say stick to tap water till further research has been done on it.

  14. Personally, I don’t think it is worth the trouble to buy alkaline water, from some articles I have read the water can cause bad side effects to your body, as other people have previously stated. However, it could also depend on the person, they could need alkalized water to help with their bodies PH.

  15. I don’t think it worth it after doing my research I will be stilling to tap water. It does have its good and bad reasons. There has been studies made that say it helps with some diseases such as blood pressure, diabetes, and high cholesterol and other people say it causes confusion, nausea, vomiting, hand tremors, muscle twitching, and tingling in the face, hands and feet.

  16. I don’t believe it is worth the trouble to alkalize water because I have not heard of tap water causing dramatic harm to people. Children used to drink water from the water hose outside (or at least I did) and all the people I know of who did that are perfectly healthy.

  18. I don’t think alkaline water is worth it. A lot of the news say that Alkaline water has not been proven to provide humans with any health benefits.

  19. With my limited knowledge on the subject, I think alkaline water is beneficial in moderation. True enough no disease can survive in an alkaline environment, however too much alkalinity can cause adverse effects. I say drink it in balance with regular ole tap water, to keep things kind of even.

  20. Alkalized water can have some benefits to people that are in different circumstances, but it could also mess up your pH. I’d stick to tap water.

  21. I would say our water here is pretty good so I would not go through the trouble alkalizing the water. From what I read it causes bad side effects and dangers. Alkaline water is very controversial.

    1. I don’t believe that alkalizing water is worth the trouble because of all the side effects it could have on the body. By doing research, I read that too much alkalinity may agitate the body’s normal pH. This may lead to nausea, vomiting, and confusion.

    2. I think that this is probably true. The water we have is pretty decent, and having alkaline water seems to be like a waste of money.

      1. I know several people who cherish it! To each his own….my problem with it is that sodium bicarbonate is the agent used to alkalize it. I try to avoid extra sodium.

  22. I think alkaline water is not worth the trouble because as we talked about in class, the most unhealthy people we have seen were ones who swore by only drinking alkaline water. This could be due to the fact that they are spending so much money on getting such highly filtered water that they aren’t getting the little bit of dirt thats in tap water. In recent years so many parents have came to believe that dirt is “dirty” and they don’t want their children to play in it, but thing is is we need the biome in dirt to help us fight off infections and disease. I do not believe humans were created to be this clean. People in the past ate plants straight from the ground and drank water from rivers and ponds, yet modern day generations want everything filtered and disinfected and sterile. Another reason these alkaline drinking water people could be so unhealthy is the materials they are drinking from. Yes, some alkaline water drinkers put out thousands of dollars to have reverse osmosis filters put in at there house, but if someone doesn’t have that type of money they would just buy water from the store, which comes in plastic. Today it’s common knowledge of all the chemicals that are in those plastic bottles, and this could be one contributing factor to why they look so unhealthy. I feel like drinking from plastic just to have your “fancy” water is a lot more risky then just walking to your kitchen sink.

  23. I don’t know much about this topic, but it seems to me that if the water you have is pretty good, then it may not be worth the extra money to alkalize it. I read that the research that has been done on this hasn’t turned out any incredible results one way or the other. Also, it could probably be harmful for some people who have an abnormal pH level to begin with. To be honest, I have to make myself drink water, so the extra steps wouldn’t be worth it to me.
