A low-sodium journey | drinking my salad

One of the cornerstones of moving toward a low-sodium diet to reduce my blood pressure was eating a salad for one of the meals of my day.  I think this also set me firmly on the path of weight loss, which I believe has helped my overall health and blood pressure.  I am truly into using the blender and drinking my salads.  One organic carrot, a handful of 50/50 Organic Taylor Farm spring mix, a squirt of Pacific original organic oat milk and some water.  Blend several cycles.  Nice green drink! (sometimes I add a tablespoon of oats to the mix).

I am learning that the magnesium and potassium in the organic tri-bean canned blend (kidneys, pintos and black beans) seems to help in my blood pressure maintenance.

I am learning that avoiding simple carbs helps in my blood pressure maintenance.

  1. I have also been incorporating more salads into my diet for a while now, and I have noticed a more positive and energetic attitude that comes along with this change. It is amazing to see the ways in which our eating habits affect how we experience our daily lives, such as our interactions not only with others but also with ourselves. If you have any good recipes, please let me know!

  2. It is so much harder (and more expensive) to eat healthy! I’m trying to make some changes in the food that I keep on hand in my own house. If only the good, healthy foods were packaged and as readily available as the junk!

    1. “If you think wellness is expensive, then try illness”. I look at health as an indispensable, and it should be viewed that way. Always spend a little extra money on the healthier item. The cost may be a hindrance now, but you will get your money back in the form of time(life)

  3. The body had a beautiful tendency to heal it self when we take the bad away (to much sodium) and put the good back in (greens). Keep it up!
